The Film Sessions

Blake Allen, a man with impeccably good taste in music and the founder of Designers.MX, has just posted my mixtape: The Film Sessions, Volume One.

I’m a film score nut. For a short time during college I was a music major with aspirations of becoming a composer for films. Obviously, I…

Video: What is Mozilla?

brettgaylor:

I’ve been working on and off for many months on a video to explain Mozilla to the uninitiated. The home for the video is now on the Get Involved page of the mozilla.org site, and I’m excited that it will be part of a process for getting people excited about pitching in at Mozilla. You can watch it below: mega hats off to Rainer Cvillink, Mozilla’s in-house video wizard, for all the great camera work, and to Jenn Strom for editing and motion grapnics.

quote I can speak both Standard American English and Black Vernacular English fluently. I switch back and forth naturally. I’m also good at speaking both simultaneously when I want to assert my Blackness and deny my connection to another Black at the same time - like to that guy on the bus who says, “Damn girl, you lookin’ good.”

Martine Syms, from the chapter, “The Talking Circle,” in her book Implications and Distinctions: Format, Content and Context in Contemporary Race Film

iPad Outsells Mac

Dan Frommer:

During the June quarter, Apple sold 9.2 million iPads for $6 billion in revenue. It also sold 3.9 million Macs for $5.1 billion in revenue.

Apple even admitted that some of the iPad’s success was at the Mac’s expense: ‘We do believe that some customers chose to purchase an iPad instead of a new Mac during the quarter,’ Apple COO Tim Cook said on the company’s earnings call, ‘but we also believe that even more customers chose to purchase an iPad over a Windows PC.’

This is astounding.
